Sunrisers Hyderabad have announced that Pat Cummins will lead their side in the 2024 IPL season.
Cummins, 30, replaces South African Aiden Markram in charge after SRH finished bottom of the table in the 2023 edition.
The Orange army won only four of their 14 matches, while Markram also struggled personally with the bat in hand.
He scored 248 runs in 13 matches at an average of 22.55 and strike-rate of 125.89- his highest score being 50.
Though Cummins has no previous experience of leading a T20 team, either domestically or internationally, he is a player with a brilliant captaincy CV.
After guiding Australia to their first World Test Championship in June 2023, Cummins and his troops retained the Ashes in England and went on to win the ODI World Cup- defeating India in their own backyard.
And that was all in the space of five months.
An IPL environment is different, and brings its own unique challenges, but write Cummins off at your peril.
If any man could change their fortunes and create a winning machine, put your money on Cummins.
Success is in his DNA….
