Kyle Jamieson takes four wickets as New Zealand complete a comprehensive 281-run victory over South Africa at Bay Oval.
The tourists were immediately sent in after the Kiwis declared on their overnight score of 179-4, but they were quickly on the back foot when Edward Moore departed for 0 and captain Neil Brand fell for 3.
Raynard van Tonder and Zubayr Hamza resisted well in a partnership of 63, though their hard work was soon undone as Jamieson removed both of them in a matter of overs.
Durham star David Bedingham then continued his impressive start to international cricket, hitting 87 from 96 in a knock littered with boundaries.
But after he smashed a Jamieson short delivery down the throat of Mitch Santner, hopes of a spirited fight back were virtually done as wickets fell at regular intervals.
The Proteas ended 247 all out- Santner starring with 3-59 to remove the lower order and back up his three wickets in the first innings.
Glenn Phillips also snaffled one with his part-time off-spin.
The two teams meet again for the second Test at Seddon Park in Hamilton, starting February 12.
