Australia thump West Indies by 8 wickets in the third and final one-day international at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Victory here sealed a 3-0 series win following comprehensive victories in Sydney and Melbourne.

The hosts won with an enormous 259 balls (43.1 overs) to spare, confirming it as the shortest completed ODI in Australia.

Brisbane Heat’s Xavier Bartlett continued his fine introduction to international cricket with figures of 4-21 in 7.1 overs.

West Indies made a cautious yet decent start as they advanced to 38-1, but the middle order again disappointed as they collapsed to 86 all out in 24.1 overs.

Highly rated opener Alick Athanaze top scored with 32, however no other WI batter passed 12 as extras (13) outscored the rest of their lineup.

The chase was never likely to be troublesome for the hosts, though the manner of the rapid victory was impressive as newcomer Jake Fraser-McGurk (41) and Josh Inglis (35*) crunched a partnership of 67 in only 27 balls.

Fraser-McGurk and Aaron Hardie (2) were the men to go with Alzarri Joseph and Oshane Thomas taking a wicket apiece.

The two teams next meet in a 3-match T20i series starting in Hobart on Friday.
